Day 15

Scorsby Sund

Covering an area of 13,700 km2 (5,290 mi2), Scoresby Sound is the largest and deepest fjord system in the world. Named after the explorer and whale hunter William Scoresby, who mapped the region in 1822, it opens onto the Greenland Sea to the north of the Blosseville Coast. This wild and desert region offers untouched panoramas of infinite beauty, with high snow-capped peaks rising tall alongside icebergs immersed in clear, blue-tinged waters. Discovering these stunning places in the wake of great explorers like Captain Charcot, who was deeply attached to the land of the Inuit, inspires a profound reverence.

Day 16

Blosville Coast

Retrace the journey of Jules Poret de Blosseville, the French explorer and sailor who, in 1833, set out to chart the remote eastern coast of Greenland aboard La Lilloise—a voyage that ended in mystery and tragedy. Today, the uninhabited land that bears his name lies south of Scoresby Sound, a vast and untamed wilderness of towering icebergs, shifting pack ice, and endless frozen expanses. Few have ever set foot in this isolated region, where the ever-changing light casts an almost surreal glow over the landscape. In this remote Arctic kingdom, home to the elusive polar bear, Le Commandant Charcot—a vessel designed for silent, unobtrusive exploration—offers unparalleled opportunities to observe the region’s extraordinary wildlife in its natural habitat.
